Tributes have been paid to El Salvador surfer Katherine Diaz, who died after being struck by lightning.
The incident occurred at El Tunco seashore in her homeland as Diaz, 22, ready for a match which may have earned her a Tokyo Olympics spot.
“Katherine embodied the enjoyment and power that make browsing so particular and pricey to us all,” said the International Surfing Association (ISA).
“She excelled on the worldwide competitors degree.”
The ISA added that Diaz – a world ambassador – represented “her nation with satisfaction at each the World Browsing Video games and ISA World Jr Browsing Championship”.
“We ship our heartfelt condolences to Katherine’s household, the surfers of El Salvador, and to all these within the worldwide browsing group whose lives she touched,” continued the assertion.

Browsing is scheduled to make its Olympic debut at this summer time’s Video games in Tokyo.
Diaz’s brother, Jose ‘Bamba’ Diaz, posted a message on Instagram which learn: “We are going to all the time carry you in our hearts. God determined to take you now. We already miss you.
